Football Glasgow Super Cup andEdinburgh Challenge Cup
Two great competitions were held recently.
On Wednesday 13th February 2008 in Glasgow YTFC added to their growing reputation by seeing off all comers, including 6 teams new to our leagues, in the Glasgow Super Cup. The winter weather was kind to our teams and everyone at Goals in Glasgow had a great time. Thanks to Red Bull for providing lots of free samples for every team that took part. In Edinburgh 18 teams gathered to play in 3 groups at the World of Football to take part in the Edinburgh Student Challenge Cup on Saturday 23rd February 2008. Four of those teams made the knock out stages - Uncle George & the Intellectual Crag, Hiroes, Prawn Stars and Summer Cup holders Dynamo Alba.
The final between Hiroes and Prawn Stars saw some great quality football, with Hiroes having more energy at that stage of the day and go on to lift the trophy, winning 2-0.

Football
Summer Cup 2007Last chance to enter the Summer Cup. The closing date is Friday 11th May. The Summer Cup will be held at the World of Football, Edinburgh on Saturday 19th May between 11.30am and 4pm. There will be free food and every team is guaranteed several games in the group stages, all refereed. So come along and enjoy some great five-a-side, then watch the FA Cup final Chelsea v Man Utd on the big screen and have some ofthe free buffet. Entry fee is only £45!! YTFC are Glasgow Champions. After a great final played in good spirit on a warm spring afternoon they emerged victorious against fellow finalists, Kally Thistle and STDs. Will those teams feature in the Summer Cup to get their hands on the silverware? University Cups Autumn Season Glasgow
Despite a communication problem on the food front, the Glasgow Cup went well with 12 teams playing on the day. There were three groups, then a play off for the trophy. Birmingham
A fantastic package was put together by Birmingham, Star City, Goals, where the event was held. Every player got a free day at Virgin Active gym, also located at Star City, Birmingham. We hope to see the teams that played that day, Wednesday 22nd November compete in a fun league very soon. Wolverhampton
The Wolverhampton Cup was held on 22nd November and was won by Walsall Allstars. A special mention goes out to both "The Blues" who made final with only 4 players, and also to Team Polska who brought two teams worth of players and galantly split their squad to make the cup more competitive. We've had loads of teams come and go in the Leicester league with the knock on effect of one team not showing up. However, on Wednesday 29th November the Leicester Cup was played. Late cancellations and no shows meant that so few teams showed up it was not the most competitive cup we've arranged. However, hats off to the teams that did take part. They showed a great love for the game and are to be commended. Hopefully the two new teams will ake their place in the league. University Super League goes UK Wide & the Glasgow Cup Ideal Leisure are starting leagues in Edinburgh and Glasgow this year as with previous years. However, this year we are also recruiting teams from London, Birmingham, Leceister and Wolverhampton. So if you are in those areas join up to part of something special. If the Edinburgh and Glasgow Leagues are anything to go by, you'll have a great time and enjoy your own team's page on this website. contact us now!! To get the Glasgow Student League off to a flyer we're staging a one day Cup competition on Wednesday 11th October. The closing date is Friday 6th October, so get your entry in NOW!! Simply click here and send us your name and telephone number, player names and team name. The Cup competition is held at Glasgow Goals Soccer Centre, Pollockshaws. This is close to both the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University. There is a free buffet and everyone will be guarenteed several games for only £30 per team for the day. Be there for 12.30pm and the first games will kick off at 1pm. It should run until about 4pm. Enter now!! Scottish Football Association Initiative Have you heard about the S.F.A. initiative to bring about an improvement in the fortunes of the national side? Initially we are interested in teams registering for our five-a-side leagues and when ready those teams will be offered the opportunity of becoming part of the first ever National Futsal League. Futsal is an addictive five-a-side game that improves skill, touch, ball control, passing and dribbling. It is played indoor to suit our climate and competition is organised and recognised by F.I.F.A. and U.E.F.A. unlike the traditional five-a-side game.
